There is just a hint of green under the big pines. The way it is snowing right now, that won't last much longer. The weather man is calling for 3-6 inches. We'll see, of course. He has been known to be wrong once in awhile. It may be that, Hazel, the John Deere will see some action tomorrow morning. At any rate, it is a good night to settle in with a good book or movie.
"Lord, High and Holy, Meek and Lowly, Thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights; hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory." Arthur Bennett

Frosting
Yesterday morning just a hint of snow had fallen. It left the pine trees with the appearance of having been frosted.

Something new...
Yes, I have entered the 21st century and received a digital camera! (Thank you Sarah!!)
Those of you who are not as "Amish" as I am have been accused of being, will surely notice that I have a great deal to learn. (The big pine tree is not really leaning, but it does appear that way because of the big branch.)
This is the west side of our U-shaped driveway. My husband has already shoveled off this side (his side) and it is covered already! The snow was falling and looked so beautiful I thought I would give the camera a try.
One of my sisters lives near Atlanta. During this last round of snow, we were having a contest to see who received the most snow--she won with eight inches. We only received four. Who would have thought!
Falling snow is so pretty. If it would just stay off the roads and the driveway! Although today was a break from shoveling, it does get old quickly. I am thankful, though, that it is not eight inches and it is light and fluffy.
Who knows where this will lead. But I hope it will be fun!
Please be patient with me as I learn.

While Shoveling Snow...
It is another brisk and snowy morning here. Yet, I must be thankful that we did not get near as much snow as our neighbors in Butler County or even up in Grove City, where my son lives. It seems this little snow storm, with it's lake effect bands, really dumped in some places and yet left others relatively unscathed. Although, since Monday, I have had to shovel and plow each day the couple of inches that came during the late afternoon and evening giving the appearance that I had done nothing at all in the morning hours.
This morning, when I went out, I was greeted with a sweet smell. At first I couldn't put my finger (nose) on it, but then it came to me...wood smoke. I looked around at the neighbors' chimneys until I spotted the lovely smoke rising like whispers from it's brick surroundings. Then I remembered...Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's fireplace, nor his wood burner, nor the fragrance that emanates thereof. There is yet another sin for which I need to repent.
I miss my wood burner.
Going out to the "big city" today. I haven't been anywhere since Sunday. Haircut, groceries, pharmacy, apple guy (I need cider), food gift delivery and a stop for the hubby at Busy Beaver. Busy day.
Lord, Help me, for I am often lukewarm and chill;
unbelief mars my confidence,
sin makes me forget thee
Let the weeds that grow in my soul be cut at their roots.

Weekend Snow and Tieing Up Loose Ends
Saturday we received eight inches of snow here! To some folks that might not seem like much, but that is a lot for us, especially all at once! My husband and I spent a good part of the day plowing and shoveling out the driveway and trying to find the car. As soon as the snow was off everything, is began to rain--freezing rain. How lovely. It took us 15 minutes to clean off the car and even get in the doors on Sunday morning. Never a dull minute. It really was a pretty snow to watch. Sometimes it was coming down so hard that it was hard to see across to the neighbor's house. The snow piled up on the pine branches and that always makes a beautiful winter scene. The sun is shining a bit today and has helped to melt off the remaining ice on a large part of the driveway.
Our church voted last Sunday to call our new pastor. The church is filled with anticipation and excitement. While there are a couple of hurdles to clear with Presbytery, he is well on his way to beginning service to God and our congregation early this Spring. Where will God take us next?!
